VIDEO: In an incredible scene, an MTA bus has been hanging off the edge of the Cross Bronx Expressway overnight.
The FDNY said eight people were hurt, including the bus driver. One person has serious injuries.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. at University Ave. and the Cross Bronx Expressway in the Highbridge section of the Bronx.
Video shows the articulated bus, which has an accordion-style center, partially hanging off the overpass. Fire officials said the bus crashed through the barriers and fell about 50 feet to the access road.
Sources tell CBS2 it appears the center part of the bus likely stopped it from reaching the roadway.
The MTA said the BX-35 bus was headed to its last stop at 178th and Broadway. It was supposed to make a left turn onto the off ramp, but went over the bridge.
