COVID-19 vaccine supplies in New York are expected to run out in two to three days as authorities struggled to streamline the messy immunization rollout, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday.
That means some vaccination sites statewide would run dry of doses before the next week's shipments arrive from the federal government, as the massive demand for shots continued to outpace the rate of production and distribution.
"We’re trying to smooth it out, but we’re also trying to get it out as fast as possible," he said, adding New York's vaccine supply will now become "week to week."
The state had administered 1,156,079 total doses, or 86% of the doses it has received from the federal government as of Wednesday afternoon, according to numbers provided by the governor's office.
