Firefighters battled a Centerport blaze early Wednesday morning.
The Centerport Fire Department was sent to Jackson Crescent at 1:42 a.m., according to public information officer Steve Silverman. Firefighters saw flames and heavy smoke extending into the second floor.
Centerport firefighters used an aggressive attack on the blaze with two hose lines. The fire was extinguished quickly, and firefighters prevented it from spreading further through the house. Two family members escaped from the home, and no injuries were reported, Silverman said.
The Huntington Town Fire Marshal and Suffolk Police Arson Squad are investigating the cause of the fire. About 50 firefighters helped put out the fire, and they were under the command of Chief Andrew Heglund and First Assistant Chief Kyle McLaughlin.
