Voters in the Town of Mohawk Fire District will decide whether to authorize the purchase of a combined fire engine and rescue vehicle for up to $725,000 for the Mohawk Fire Department during a public referendum on Dec. 21. The single proposition would authorize the vehicle purchase and the issuance of a bond for up to $450,000 toward the expense. Although the ballot measure would provide authority for taxes levied by the fire district to be used to pay principal and interest on the bond, Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Bill VanGorder said no impact to taxpayers is anticipated.
“This truck is going to be paid for inside of our current financial structure which will result in no increase for the taxpayer,” VanGorder said.
