The FDNY responded to a tipped portable generator at Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton on Tuesday. The incident was reported 11:38 a.m. outside the hospital at 355 Bard Ave., according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS. The excessive heat from the last couple of days caused a minor area of blacktop in the parking area at the rear of the hospital to cave and that caused the generator to list to one side. While he generator never flipped over or landed on its side, there was a small fuel leak that that was very quickly contained by the FDNY, said Alexander Lutz, a spokesman for the hospital. The hospital was never in any situation where services had to be suspended and there was no danger to patients or staff or damage to personal property, Lutz said.
