Around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, multiple fire departments responded to a house fire call in Johnson City, where flames and smoke were visible from the rear of the home.
It took firefighters about 45 minutes to put out the fire at the 605 East Maine Road residence. East Maine Fire, Choconut Center Fire, Endwell Fire, Maine Emergency Squad and Endwell Ambulance were all one scene.
The only inhabitant of the home, an elderly woman, did not leave the residence by choice -- but neither her or her pets suffered any injuries.
Fire Chiefs on scene told a Fox 40 crew member that the fire was caused by a lawnmower that was stored outside the back of house, however it has not been determined why or how the lawnmower caught on fire.
