An apartment fire on the Syracuse’s West Side burned for several hours and displaced five people, firefighters said.
A fire started at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at the James Geddes Housing complex at 309 Fabius St., according to a news release from the Syracuse Fire Department Thursday.
All residents got out safely before the fire department arrived, firefighters said.
The fire was trapped in a small attic of an apartment. allowing it to burn for several hours, firefighters said.
Two adults and three teens were displaced, according to a news release from the American Red Cross Central & Northern New York Chapter.
Financial assistance, food and clothing were given to the people who lost their home, according to the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
