The Fire Department of Westfield recently recognized a historic milestone for one of its former fire chiefs, Lyle Holland. Holland joined the department’s Hook & Ladder Company in September 1972 and was honored recently for his 50 years of service to the residents of Westfield. During his 50-year career Holland has held a number of different positions within the fire department. Holland has served as the department’s safety officer, a lieutenant, captain, warden, quartermaster, vice president, and captain of the Rescue Squad and an emergency medical technician for decades. Holland was chief of the Fire Department of Westfield in 2008 and 2009, and has been an active member of the Chautauqua County Fire Chief’s Association for decades, as well as the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs.
