A longtime member of the Westfield Fire Department was recently recognized for 50 years of service to the department. Lyle Holland joined Westfield's Hook & Ladder Company in September 1972 and has held several positions, including Safety Officer, Lieutenant, Captain, Warden, Quartmaster, Vice President, Captain of the Rescue Squad, and Fire Chief from 2008-2009. He was also an EMT for decades. To honor Holland's achievement, Westfield Mayor Michael VandeVelde proclaimed November 7th as Lyle Holland Day in the village.
