Multiple emergency crews responded to a house fire at 440 St. John Rd. in Afton Thursday morning.
Harpursville Fire Chief Jeffrey Buckler told 12 News firefighters entered the home and found an unconscious person inside the house that was on fire. They were taken from the home and transported to Wilson Hospital by Greene Ambulance.
Buckler said the fire was mostly on the first floor of the residence, but the second floor received a lot of heat and smoke damage.
The Afton, Bainbridge, Harpursville, Coventry fire departments and Greene EMS responded to the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
