An FDNY spokesperson said Wednesday that no firehouses will be used to help address the city’s ongoing migrant crisis despite a fake memo circulating online.
Social media users flooded websites with the fake memo, purportedly from Chief of Operations John Esposito, Tuesday night saying that firehouses would shelter migrants in their living quarters under orders from the office of Mayor Eric Adams, but FDNY spokeswoman Amanda Farinacci confirmed Wednesday that it was a fake.
“Tuesday night, a letter appearing to be an official FDNY internal document was circulated, purporting that firehouses will be used to house migrants. This is categorically false,” she said. “The document is a fake, and there will be no firehouses used to house migrants.”
