A two-family home was torn down after a fire caused significant structure damage Sunday, firefighters confirmed that evening. First responders arrived in the area of Bloss Street and N. Plymouth Avenue at around 1 p.m. Sunday, where they found a heavy fire showing from 48 Bloss St. Firefighters said that the flames risked entering a neighborhood home. An additional crew responded on scene to help fight the flames, with members entering the home, firefighters said. A second alarm was rung and firefighters left the structure as the blaze continued, battling the fire from the outside. Responders said that it took a bit over an hour to get the fire under control. Due to the significant damage, the home was torn down. The neighboring home suffered some heat damage, responders said, but did not sustain any interior damage.
