VIDEO: Rochester firefighters hosted a send-off breakfast for youth burn survivors who are headed for four days of fun at Camp Courage Summer Burn Camp Thursday. The camp allows kids to swim, take part in arts and crafts and movie nights, with some psycho-social work mixed in to help build self-esteem.
“Sometimes burn survivors don’t make as many friends. They might be kicked out of social stuff,” said Grayson Cristofaro, a camper. “It’s good for us to get together and to support each other when times are getting tough.”
Grayson Cristofaro had, what he called, his ‘burnaversary’ on July 31st. He said it’s been three years since his accident. Grayson tried to re-light a fire with gasoline when the flames traveled up the stream and got to him.
