An early afternoon fire on Hart Street has left several people displaced and the fire under investigation. Firefighters were called to 1212 Hart Street at approximately 12:25 pm on Tuesday, July 9. Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the garage and extending into the two-and-a-half-story building. Firefighters began extinguishing the blaze, confining it to the garage and areas on the first two floors. Due to the fire and weather conditions outside, the fire was soon upgraded to a working fire before firefighters were able to extinguish it. According to the Utica Fire Department, there were no injuries. A search of the premises found that all of the occupants had vacated the building safely. The Utica Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Utica Police Department, National Grid and the American Red Cross.
