A garage fire early Sunday morning caused damage to a home in the Town of Canandaigua, though the homeowners and their pets escaped unharmed. Firefighters and deputies responded to the fire at 4965 West Ridge Run around 2 a.m., according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. The fire was contained to the garage, but the residence, belonging to Michael and Melissa Fiorentino, sustained smoke and water damage on both the first and second floors.
Authorities believe the fire was likely caused by an overloaded electrical outlet, though the exact cause is still under investigation. After assessing the damage, Canandaigua Town Code Enforcement deemed the home safe to remain occupied.
