High school students at Notre Dame Academy learned more about that pivotal day seventeen years ago on Tuesday. Former Sylvania Deputy Fire Chief Tom Eisel talked with students about his 9/11 experiences. Eisel traveled to New York to help bury fellow first responders in the aftermath of the tragedy. He described the sights and smells of what it was like to walk 'Ground Zero.' Students were able to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of how these events shape the world we live in. "I've kinda seen videos of the planes crashing and I've learned a lot of information about it at school. But the way that our speaker talked about it today, he said a lot of vivid and a lot of very descriptive words that made you almost have like a very vivid image of what was happening," said Michaela Desmond, a student at Notre Dame. Notre Dame Academy said that these talks are designed to allow students to make meaningful connections with history.
