PHOTOS: City of Green officials dedicated a new pumper/tanker for the Green Fire Division April 6 amid fun and fanfare at Fire Station No. 1 on Massillon Road.
The $643,972 vehicle was purchased with approval from Green City Council last year and replaces 25-year-old equipment.
Attendees at the ceremony enjoyed cookies decorated to look like fire trucks, coloring books, firemen hats and a close look at the new vehicle.
Visitors also were invited to towel wipe the pumper/tanker after it was wetted down as part of the dedication ceremony.
Afterward, Green firefighters participated in an old tradition of pushing the new pumper/tanker into the station bay, symbolizing the beginning of active service for the new vehicle.
