Youngstown fire officials say they will likely never know for sure what caused the fire that killed five children in December. Fire investigator Kurt Wright held a news conference Thursday to explain some of the theories as to what could have caused the fire at 434 Parkcliffe Avenue. That fire killed Aleysha Rosario 9, Charles Gunn 3, Ly'Asia Gunn 2, and Brianna and Arianna Negron, 1. Their mother, Amy Negron, 26, escaped by jumping out of her rear bedroom window. Captain Wright said Thursday he can't rule out that the fire may have been caused by careless smoking, saying Negron had told him while still hospitalized in Cleveland that she had been smoking on a mattress on the floor of the living room earlier that evening. "The final conclusion of the fire. The fire originated on the first floor in the living room. There was a mattress on the floor in the living room.
