In death, fallen Colerain officer gives gift of life through kidney, tissue, cornea donations

Colerain Township Officer Dale Woods died Monday afternoon, days after being struck by a pickup truck while on duty. Woods served the Colerain community for nearly 30 years, both as a police officer and firefighter. And he will continue to serve after his death. Woods, 46, was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m. Monday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was an organ donor. According to officials at the LifeCenter, Woods death with help numerous others live. Woods' will help two people through kidney donations, officials said, and countless others will be helped through the gifts of tissue and cornea donations. "We weren't ready to let Dale go," police Chief Mark Denney said Monday. Denney said Woods dedicated his life to the community, and the fact that he was an organ donor was no surprise.
