Firefighters battled a house fire in Barnesville on the Warren Ave. extension Wednesday evening. Nobody was inside at the time. The home is a total loss. The fire started around 4 p.m. and lasted hours. Barnesville, Bethesda, Somerton, and Morristown Fire Departments responded. Barnesville Fire Chief Tim Hall says the homeowner had been having furnace problems, but the official cause of the fire is not yet known. He added that firefighters had trouble locating a fire hydrant on scene. "Everybody has worked hard in the frigid conditions and the weather conditions right now. We had trouble getting a good water supply established. Once we got that, we were able to do some good with it,” said Hall.
