Niles city officials on Wednesday recognized the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, ambulance crew and dispatchers for their efforts at a Memorial Day house fire on Scott Street where first responders were able to save a woman and her teenage son. The fire did claim the lives of a man and another male teen at the home. Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz said at the city council meeting the fire was a tragedy for the community and for the Crist and Scarnecchia families. Ugo Scarnecchia, father of Diane Crist, said his daughter has been released from the hospital while his grandson, Jesse Crist, 17, is still in the hospital in Columbus. Brad Crist, 45, and Jacob Crist, 15, died in the blaze.
