The Newark Division of Fire is on the scene of a 2-alarm house fire that started early Friday morning. Firefighters were called at 4:50 a.m. to the 200 block of Moull Street. Flames and smoke were seen coming from the roof area of the home when crews arrived. Chief Conner with the Newark Division of Fire told 10TV, the fire started in the basement of an unoccupied structure. Chief Conner said a firefighter fell into the floor while fighting the fire and he was rescued and not injured. There was a second firefighter whose hand was injured and was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital and expected to be OK. Firefighters battled the blaze during an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect until Saturday. The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
