A 51-year-old man is dead and eight others suffered smoke inhalation from a Saturday morning house fire that police say was set on purpose. The man, who has not been identified, was found unconscious in a downstairs apartment in a two-unit building on West 95th Street just south of Madison Avenue, Cleveland police Det. David Gallagher said. He was taken to MetroHealth where he was later pronounced dead. Cleveland Fire spokesman Mike Norman told cleveland.com the man had a gunshot wound when he was found. No arrests have been made and a sign outside of the home says that the fire was arson. Investigators were alerted to the fire about 3:30 a.m. Eight more people got out of the upstairs unit; two 19-year-old men, a 13-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, a 41-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, a 32-year-old woman and a 9-month-old baby, police said.
