No major injuries after firefighters contain 2-alarm fire east of downtown Columbus

No one had major injuries after Columbus Fire responded to a large fire near the Franklin Park Conservatory Tuesday morning. The fire was reported at an apartment building at 1445 E. Broad St. around 6:45 a.m. Columbus Fire said the flames started in a third-floor apartment and heavy smoke spread towards the upper floors. A second alarm was called to send more firefighters to the scene. Firefighters evacuated the building and all residents got out without major injures. Two people were hospitalized for minor smoke inhalation, per Columbus Fire. Investigators started working to determine the cause.
