For a second day in a row Wednesday, traffic on Mansfield Street was blocked by firetrucks.
On Tuesday, the Bucyrus and Galion fire departments battled a major structure fire on West Mansfield Street. At 1 p.m. Wednesday, just a few blocks away, firefighters from all over the county gathered in front of the Crawford County Courthouse to celebrate some good news.
State Fire Marshal Jeff Hussey came to town to officially award a $619,479 state grant that will allow the county's 13 fire departments to purchase MARCS (Multi-Agency Radio Communication System) radios. MARCS is the state public safety radio system. Crawford was one of just six counties to receive a grant this year.
Dozens of firefighters and local leaders gathered in front of the courthouse steps to listen to Hussey as he awarded a grant. A row of firetrucks lined the street.
