In the past 50 years, only four Cincinnati firefighters have been killed in the line of duty, but that doesn't make March any easier.
Last week marked the anniversary of two of those fallen firefighters' deaths, and Tuesday will mark a third.
A call went out over the city's radio system for Oscar Armstrong III, killed in 2003, on Thursday.
"This loss is a lasting pain, which is still felt the strongest by those who knew and loved him best," the dispatcher said. "May we remember the good times with a loved one and may we remember those lessons taught to us at a terrible cost. We miss you, Ozzie."
Tuesday marks the fourth anniversary of the passing of Daryl Gordon, the most recent line-of-duty death for the department.
