'Smoke alarms woke her up': Residents evacuate engulfed home on Cleveland's West Side

Cleveland fire responded to a house fire on Thornhope Road, just south of Puritas Avenue Monday morning, according to a tweet from Cleveland fire. Shortly after 7 a.m., fire officials said crews were on scene responding to a two-story occupied home. All residents inside the home were evacuated, according to a tweet. One of the residents credited her smoke detector with waking her up and ultimately getting her out of the burning home. Video shows smoke engulfing the home as crews worked to put out the fire. Firefighters found a set of car keys among a pile of charred debris.
