Elyria house blaze injures two firefighters

Two firefighters were injured while fighting an early-morning blaze in Elyria. The Elyria Fire Department was called to a house fire at 4 a.m. today at 134 Clark Street. They found a fire on the second floor of a two-story house, and were able to get it under control in about 15 minutes. The house sustained smoke and heat damage on the second floor and water damage on the first floor, but remains habitable, firefighters said. Damage was estimated around $12,000. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Another had a knee injury and was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for further evaluation.
