First responders are checking homes in the area of a gas well blowout in Berlin Township to see if they need to be evacuated. Firefighters from Berlin and Ellsworth townships were called to 15081 Ellsworth Road at around 10:30 AM Monday. Although there was no fire, a plume of gas is spewing from the well. Authorities are concerned that a spark could set the gas on fire. Ellsworth Road is closed between Route 534 and Newton Falls Road as Emergency Management crews are being called to the scene. Two ambulances have been called and are standing by as crews work to stop the flow of gas.
