Firefighters spent part of Thursday morning, making sure flames didn't spread from a burning home to neighboring houses on Youngstown's South Side.
Just after 2:30 a.m., the fire was reported in a vacant home on the 1000 block of Hawthorne Street, just east of Glenwood Avenue.
When firefighters arrived, flames had spread throughout the home and lit up the sky over the neighborhood.
The fire department used an aerial truck to rainwater down on the home as well as nearby homes.
No one was injured. Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
