The Mentor Fire Department is preparing for its 26th year conducting the Rescue the Needy Food Drive.
Each year, Mentor Firefighter/Paramedic Dominic Vivolo and Lt. Mike Smith gather their team of firefighters who volunteer their time to collect non-perishable food and cash donations to benefit the needy of Lake County through the Salvation Army.
“Over the 25 past years, we estimate that we have raised over $150,000 in cash and food donations,” Vivolo said in a news release. “Lt. Mike Smith and I are very excited about this milestone that we have reached in our career with this event.”
This year’s drive will be held at the Great Lakes Mall on Nov. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m, and Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
