Three fire departments in Trumbull County are sharing nearly $130,000 in federal grants to help them continue day-to-day operations. The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Friday announced the awarding of Assistance to Firefighters Grants grants awarded for Fiscal Year 2018. The Bazetta Township Fire Department got the lion's share of the grants with a $60,000 award. The township must come up with a $3,000 matching fund according to Chief Dennis Lewis. Brookfield Township Fire Chief David Masirovits tells 21 News that his department will use the $27,530 grant to buy new hand tools, fire hoses, and hose testing equipment. Masirovits says the township's match for the grant is nearly $4,000.
