Fire kills father, 5-year-old daughter in Quaker City

An early Thursday morning fire at a home on Smith Avenue in Quaker City claimed the lives of a 42-year-old man and his 5-year-old daughter. A 7-year-old daughter was seriously injured in the blaze and was flown by MedFlight to Akron Children’s Hospital. The two killed in the fire were identified as Steve Myers and Lydia Myers. Autopsies are scheduled for Friday at the Licking County Coroner’s Office, according to Guernsey County Coroner Dr. Sandra Schubert. The name of the 7-year-old girl flown from the village to the Akron hospital had not been released. No other information regarding her injuries or condition was available as of press time.
