Columbus firefighters rescued a man from a two-alarm fire at a 2.5-story, multi-family house on the South Side. Battalion Chief Steve Martin said firefighters and medics were called at 9:07 p.m. to the house on the 800 block of South 22nd St. at the corner with East Sycamore on a report of a fire with a person trapped. Firefighters arriving at the scene reported fire visible from the outside coming from the second floor and declared it a working fire. KaJuan Poindexter, 27, a resident on the street, said firefighters rescued a man from the second floor. “They did a really good job,” he said. “I know it’s their job, but they deserve (the praise). They saved his life.” Kevin Kadoe, 19, who lives diagonally across the street, said he heard a loud pop sound and came outside to find the house on fire.
