The Fairborn Police and Fire Departments have an increased need to raise funds as the size of the community grows and the budget to serve the community diminishes. Rob Anderson, city manager of Fairborn, says the city will be holding a series of citizen forums to educate the community on the need to increase police and fire personnel — and plans to do so through an income tax levy. Fairborn residents will see a half percent increase in income tax, which is projected to raise $4.8 million a year. The fixed levy will span 10 years. Anderson said the city considered the most appropriate way to raise funds before deciding on a route that won't affect all members of the community.
