At least one person was taken to the hospital Friday morning after a central Toledo home caught fire.
Police were the first to arrive and discovered a woman trapped on the second floor of the house on the 900 block of Woodstock. An officer ran around the back to try and help, while firefighters busted into the house. Crews went upstairs and were able to rescue the woman, who was hiding in her closet. She was then rushed to the hospital. Battalion Chief Tim Clapp said he believes she needed emergency care for smoke inhalation. However, he expects her to be OK.
An investigator is looking into what caused the fire. It is not deemed suspicious nor accidental at this time. However, firefighters said they believe the flames started in the front left corner of the home, where the heaviest damage was found.
