A 15-year-old girl is suspected of causing an arson fire that sent two members of her household to a hospital Friday, according to Fire Chief Justin Edwards.
Firefighters were called to the house at 430 N. Dawson St. at 9:40 p.m., he said. They arrived two minutes later to find slight smoke showing. The homeowner had already extinguished most of the fire by the time firefighters arrived.
Rubbish was set on fire in a closet, causing about $5,000 worth of damage from smoke, Edwards said.
Firefighters remained at the scene for about an hour to ventilate the home and make sure the fire was completely extinguished, he said.
