Keisha Amspaugh hopes her recent promotion to assistant fire chief at Mary Ann Township Fire Department sets an example for girls aspiring to join the fire service. Her promotion to the position makes her only the third female assistant fire chief in Licking County's history. Before Amspaugh, were Jan Packard of the Granville Volunteer Fire Department and Anita Stickle at Newark Division of Fire. Hired to the position on Jan. 1, Amspaugh has been with the department for 15 years. She's one of three full-time employees at Mary Ann, and also works part-time at Buckeye Lake Fire Department. After becoming certified to be a state-tested nursing assistant, or STNA, Amspaugh worked in a nursing home then later, in Licking Memorial Hospital's emergency department.
