An elderly woman was killed and another woman was hurt in a house fire in Liverpool Township Thursday.
Firefighters responded to a call for a kitchen fire around 6 p.m. It was for a house in the 600 block of 9th Ave. The fire ended with an elderly woman dead and another woman in the hospital with burns.
According to a neighbor from across the street, the flames were as tall as the trees.
“I looked out the window and I seen flames coming out the kitchen window of her house. By the time I got to the door, the daughter that takes care of her mother was coming out down the sidewalk and it was an image that I will never forget,” said neighbor Rhonda Mason.
The responding fire chief said they were able to get the flames down quickly but initially, they couldn’t make entry into the front room because of the flames.
