Carol Ann Brown celebrated her 60th birthday in the same way she celebrated her arrival in the world, with Roger Van Nostran standing nearby. Mr. Van Nostran has many stories from his 30 years as a Solon volunteer firefighter, but there is one story that to this day stands out in his mind. During his first year on the force in 1962, he was called into action to deliver a baby that was coming quickly. The child’s parents were headed to St. Luke’s Hospital but only made it to Solon, then had to stop at the police station for help. Mr. Van Nostram was called on to deliver that baby – which he did – in the back of an ambulance. On Friday, in a surprise presentation from members of the Solon Historical Society, Mr. Van Nostran met the baby he had delivered. And it was that baby, Carol Ann Brown’s, 60th birthday!
