Two longtime career firefighters and key leaders for the Canby Fire District have announced their retirements this year. Division Chief Gary and Captain Bunnell will hang up their helmets after a combined more than 60 years of dedicated service to Canby’s citizens. Division Chief Todd Gary retired on Dec. 31, 2018, but is working back time through this summer. Chief Gary began his career at Canby Fire District as a volunteer and served more than 30 years as a career firefighter. He was promoted to division chief by Fire Chief Jim Davis in 2015. Chief Gary has served the community of Canby with a commitment to service and compassion. Captain Robert (Bob) Bunnell has over 28 years of dedicated service to the Canby Fire District. Captain Bunnell has filled the ranks of career Firefighter and was promoted to Fire Captain by Chief Davis in 2016. Chief Davis is extremely proud of Captain Bunnell as he exemplifies the mission statement for Canby Fire.
