A 4-year-old boy fell from a window of a duplex in Portland’s Bethany neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
The child fell from the second-story window head first near Northwest Springville Road and Northwest 160th Avenue, the Washington County Sheriff's Office says.
Firefighters say they arrived on the scene just before 5 p.m. to find the boy had landed on a concrete patio.
A neighbor says he watched the entire event unfold and was the first one at that child’s side.
"I could just see his body go, nothing for him to grab, just seen his body flip pretty much all the way to the ground," Rashad Fields says.
"I’m praying and hoping that he’s ok," he adds.
Fields said he cradled the boy keeping him alive.
"He was conscious he was crying" he said.
