Six members of the local community will be recognized for their quick actions in Grants Pass on September 23, when they stepped in and gave CPR to a man who went into cardiac arrest on a soccer field. The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS) says that 911 received a call for an emergency at Reinhart Volunteer Park soccer Field on that day. The caller said that a man had fallen unconscious and slipped out of his chair — he went into cardiac arrest, his heart no longer beating. According to the agency, six people came to the man's aid, performing CPR until firefighters and paramedics could arrive on the scene. "Due to the quick action of these individuals, emergency crews were able to restore a heartbeat, and he is alive and recovering today," GPDPS said.
