Bend Fire and Rescue crews spent their first night in the brand new Tumalo Fire Station on December 3, after working hard over the past two weeks to move equipment, supplies and furniture from the old (1973) Tumalo Station.
The new station has 4 bays for apparatus, room for all the tasks that firefighters complete during their work shift, state of the art renewable energy and sustainability features, and, of course, a fire pole, to travel from the upstairs living quarters to the engine.
The building has been designed with firefighter comfort and safety in mind, and at the same time, it fits in with the look and feel of downtown Tumalo. The brick veneer carries on the tradition of old-time firehouses, and the landscaping is designed to attract people to spend time enjoying its outdoor features.
