A 42-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police say he’s been the source of more than 20 fires in downtown Portland since Friday. No injuries have been reported due to the fires, about half started in the west part of downtown on Friday and Saturday, according to Portland police. Surveillance footage helped investigators determine Jack Edward Vandorin Young was the suspect and he was arrested on accusations of first-degree arson near Southwest 17th Avenue and Alder Street, police said. According to police, Young is also suspected in the Sunday burnings of a mattress near a building on Southwest Jackson Street, several recycling and garbage bins near food carts on Southwest 10th Avenue and Washington Street and other materials ignited in an elevator at Southwest 10th Avenue and Broadway.
