The senior communication representative at Pacific Power says crews are working with stakeholder groups and Governor Brown to enhance wildfire response across the state. There's a mitigation plan for each state. For Oregon, Pacific Power is adopting a wildfire safety plan. It takes a multi-faceted approach that includes active monitoring of the grid, monitoring forecasted and current weather conditions, satellite imaging, enhanced facility and equipment inspections and increased vegetation management, according to the company. For California, Pacific Power has protocols in place. It plans to shut down power supply to specific areas when certain hazardous conditions are met in order to prevent fires. This is called a "public safety power shutoff," a last line of defense. Now, Pacific Power says it is working on a community outreach and education campaign specific to wildfire safety and preparedness.
