Fire season may be over but the risk of a wildland fire remains. Wednesday morning the Illinois Valley Fire District teamed up with the Oregon Department of Forestry to stop a wildland fire at about 2/10 of an acre off Kerby Main Line Road. An illegal trash dump (approximately 30 feet in diameter) on the side of a forest service road appears to have been set on fire, according to a press release. They said with the current winds the fire spread into the wildland but fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. IVFD was assisted by Oregon Department of Forestry. The cause of the fire is under investigation by ODF and the IVFD Fire Marshal. Firefighters remind people that all burning in the Illinois Valley requires a burn permit.
