Fire District 3 launched a new Fire Reduction Trailer Program this summer. Firefighters will drop a trailer off at your house so you can load it with dead brush and plants. Then, they'll take it away. This program is completely free.
You will have to call Fire District 3 before you can use the trailer. Firefighters will come out to your house and suggest how you can make it safer. Once you make some improvements, you can give Fire District 3 another call. They'll bring the trailer out to you and take it away when you're done.
"It's not something that's going to be overbearing," said Ashley Blakely from Fire District 3. "We're really just going to take our time, talk and educate the resident about what they can do around their home to reduce the impact of wildfire on their home, their neighbors and ultimately, the community."
