ODOT says work along the Historic Columbia River Highway and State Trail is now underway. This is another milestone in the Columbia River Gorge’s recovery from the Eagle Creek Fire that burned in 2017. ODOT says at the Oneonta Tunnel, look for flaggers and single lane closures on the Historic Highway as crews repair damage caused by the wildfire. At Toothrock Tunnel, the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail will be closed between the Toothrock Trailhead and Eagle Creek for installation of rockfall mesh and to stabilize the hillside above the tunnel’s east portal. The Toothrock Trailhead will be closed after the Thanksgiving weekend through December 12.
