For the third day in a row, Oregon health officials reported a record-setting jump in coronavirus cases as the state continues to see a “steep and stark slope of rising Coronavirus cases.”
The Oregon Health Authority reported 1,517 new confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the state’s total to 65,170 identified cases since the pandemic began.
Another person has died of COVID-19, according to the OHA. Oregon’s death toll stands at 820 victims.
The record increase reported Sunday outpaced the previous record—set Saturday— by eight cases.
Health officials say more than a third of the new coronavirus cases were identified in Multnomah County, with 516 cases. There were also significant increases to the case count in Clackamas (207), Marion (183) and Washington (128) counties.
